TheIndian government is developing a Buddha Park on 285 acres of land inNagarjuna Sagar. In July 2004 on one side of their project on theedge of the hill they allocated 35 acres of land for the developmentof a Vipassana center. Goenkaji has named this centre DhammaNāgājjuna after the great scholar Acharya Nagarjuna who was thechief abbot of Nalanda University. The centre enjoys a beautiful viewof the reservoir and the surrounding hills. Dhamma Nāgājjuna is 160kms from Hyderabad. From Hyderabad one can go by car (2.5 hourjourney) or bus (3.5 hour journey).
Byfeb 2005, a Mini Dhamma Hall to seat 50 to 70 students, Office,Kitchen, Male and Female dormitory and toilets wereconstructed. The first 10 day course was held here in August 2005after an additional dormitory and two single rooms with attachedtoilets were constructed on both sides. In 2006 construction startedin the main course area. Since the environment here is ideal for longcourses, it was decided to build individual rooms of 10’x10’each having its own veranda and toilet. 18 such rooms were built ofwhich 12 were used for males and 6 for females. A circular MiniDhamma Hall for 50 students was also built by July 2007 and the first10 day course was held here. Later 6 more rooms were added to thefemale side. A Pagoda with 64 cells was constructed in 2010 andit can be extended up to 200 cells. In 2014 twenty new rooms wereconstructed on the male side. The rooms are big enough toaccommodate 2 people so 86 students can be accommodated. Every monthtwo 10 day courses are conducted and Childrens’ courses on the lastday of 10 day courses, teenagers courses, Satipattana courses and 10day special are held. The first 20 day course was held in 2011. Thefirst 30 day course was held on 30th of April 2014. The first45 day course was held in January, 2015.
Developments:
Nowin its second decade Dhamma Nāgājjuna has been evolving to meet thegrowing demand of students who want to attend courses. The completionof Kitchen, Dining Hall and Pagoda is a major accomplishment. These 3projects have costed the center around 1.5 crores. Huge plantationhas taken place in the first decade and now the trees stand tallhaving grown enough to give the barren land a vibrant lush-greenlook. Trees of Neem, Lemon, Amla, Mango and Kanuga trees occupy thegarden. The garden is producing enough lemon and amla for thestudents.
Recentadditions include Solar Water Heaters, Wood Stove and a Bio Gas plantto utilise the fire wood and food waste.

All courses are run solely on a donation basis. All expenses are met by donations from those who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the Teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and those who serve the courses volunteer their time. Thus Vipassana is offered free from commercialisation.
Old students are those who have completed a 10-day Vipassana Meditation course with S.N. Goenka or his Assistant Teachers. Old students have the opportunity to provide Dhamma Service at the courses listed.
Bilingual courses are courses which are taught in two languages. All students will hear daily meditation instructions in both languages. The evening discourses will be heard separately.
Meditation courses are held at both center and non-center locations. Meditation centers are dedicated facilities where courses are held regularly throughout the year. Before meditation centers were established in this tradition, all courses were held at temporary sites, such as campgrounds, religious retreat centers, churches and the like. Today, in regions where centers have not yet been established by local students of Vipassana who live in the area, 10 Day meditation courses are held at non-center course sites.
